I was commissioned by Fulton County to design and paint this piano for the annual 2018 Pianos for Peace Festival in Atlanta. The piano was displayed on the Atlanta Beltline near Ponce City Market during September 2018, and will be donated to a local public institution when the festival ends.
The design features two local native species that can be found throughout the Atlanta area, the Black and White Warbler and the Bloodroot flower. I chose these because their black and white coloring is reminiscent of piano keys, and also because the Black and White Warbler has a beautiful little musical birdsong. This was a fun project, and it was an honor to be a part of such a beneficial organization which is bringing art and music into public spaces across the city.
